Will From Königsberg

EIN From Utah

Kevin, below is an excerpt from the text for the premise of that new screenplay I was trying to share with you. Where you would play the lead male role. Let me know what you think and I’ll shoot you a copy. Hope you’re taking good care of yourself.

Once upon a time,
there lived a girl named Alessandra. She came from a very small island in the pacific ocean. From the time she was just a little girl, she was dreamer. She had many dreams for herself, the ones she loved, and hopes of how she would one day change the world. She was young at heart, a hopeless romantic, an eternal optimist, who led her life by the passion of her inner child. She could not help it, it was simply who she was.
Because of the circumstances under which this girl was born into, the girl would come to know many people who would pursue her with ulterior motives. She began to feel as though there would never be anyone who would want to know the girl for who she really was.
Despite this unfortunate predicament that life had presented her with, she still believed in fairy tales. In her quest for love, she had her heart broken many times along the way. As soon as she would come to trust another, enough to be herself with them, she would discover she that she had been lied to. That these pretenders did not want the girl, but rather a piece of what they thought she could offer to them. She did not like being made to feel so foolish for living her life in such an ambitious way. She wanted to believe in someone who would not deceive her. She wanted to find the one who would not try to rob her of that innocence and purity, but bask in the blissfulness of it with her.
Thus, when it came to love, she became very cautious in her pursuit of it. She decided that if love was real, then it could only ever truly exist in a world that was designed for it’s experience...one where none of it’s perfections could not falter. Her philosophy on life became one similar to that of escapism. She knew that if she treated love as delicately as she could, then it would never fail her.
There were many who believed the girls approach to be a very cynical and pessimistic way to view the experience of romance. The girl knew that it was necessary to guard her heart, and protect herself from all of dangers that the world had to offer. Regardless of the pressures reality, she remained independent, motivated, and positive in her outlook on life.
When she finally thought she had found it, she did not want to live without it anymore. The girl was often eager to share good advice, but very seldom as sensible to follow it. She had a instinctual curiosity inside her which, no matter how hard she fought, would always manage to get the best of her.
All she really wanted was for someone to finally be honest in their desires for her, and in coming to understand her heart. To know she could trust at least one person in this world, enough to enjoy all the wonder it had to offer together. A bond which she had only shared with one person before, and thought she may never find again. She could only continue to dream that one day she would have this with another.
Because the girl understood the weight of ones responsibilities in life, she knew that she would have to let the boy go. Because their time was perfect, and she could not ask the boy to recreate it, knowing what she knew now. How selfish a request that would’ve been of the girl.
She would not have been so disinclined to fight for the boy, if she knew who it was she would be fighting for. She would remain hopeful that someone would one day inspire the same feelings inside her. That he would show her that it was okay to believe again. The one who would prove to her that such things could exist in reality, and not only in the seemingly transcendental realm in which she had experienced it before.
Sadly, the boy did not attempt to find the girl this authentic way. The outlet with which he provided her with to express herself was nothing more than a stage. It felt so contrived, as though it were so heavily dependent on a false identity. The girl wanted to be given such an opportunity offstage.
Her close friend, who was angered by his knowledge of the actions of the boy, had comedically threatened to play such false tricks on her. So naturally, when the occasion arrived, this girl had many doubts that such events may actually be happening. The girl felt a little as though she was possibly imagining things, or maybe completely loosing her mind. This was very discouraging to the girl, and she did not find any humor in the boys expectation that she would realize what he was doing to her. Especially after her belief in the possibility of such crazy things had been nearly shattered. She did not want to share herself with him through another. She wanted to genuinely experience that connection with that boy only, and no one else. Once she realized what had occurred, it was to late to play her role to his liking in such games.
She did not know what the boy wanted from her anymore. Before these feelings in her were called into question, she thought his intentions were the same as hers, but now she was not so certain. She was confused by his actions.
He may have wanted to know more about who she is. Okay, so...who is this girl? Anyone could simply fill out an evaluation with what they are. She was a writer, a lover, a philosophic enthusiast, a dancer, an artist, a liar, a girl and a woman. A giver and a taker, a believer, a photographer, an individualist, a musician, a hippie, an environmentalist(as counterintuitive as that may seem for a smoker). A screenwriter and producer of ideas. A director and an actress. She was a bird, a liberal wanderer, an imaginary, a visionary. She did not do things to simply “pass the time”, but instead she lived her life moment to moment. Trying to see the beauty in both the good and the bad. None of these notations could have provided the boy with an understanding of who she was, unless he came to know her under a more honest setting. She did not want to sound like a generic personal ad, but like a symphony to the boys ears. This was not possible, when the boy had tried to play her for such a fool. Where was his courage in himself? and where was his faith in her?
Now that she was aware of his contentment with reality, she did not understand why he would indulge in such actions. Nor, how he could possibly do so guiltlessly. She was however, comforted to know that there were others out there that were like her. She marveled at the idea that she could perhaps care just as much for this kind of person, as she could for the boy that she had created in her mind.
With her knowledge of what had happened, she did not see what else there was to say. What was she to do? If the boy gave her something real to fight for, then maybe she could give him everything he wanted in return. Perhaps such a day would never come for the girl, but she remained hopeful that the boy would give her such an honest opportunity to show her who she was. All she really wanted was for the boy to ultimately be happy, as it seemed he already was. She would continue to live, endlessly faithful that this love was not so weak to surrender to reality. She would try forever to mend her broken heart and pray that one day she would find his again.

Sincerely,

EIN
